Description: This walk will take us up and down almost every hill and path in the south-central, West of Twin Peaks neighborhoods.  Starting at the Glen Park BART Station, we'll climb along intricate hidden paths and stairways, including - for utterly breathtaking views - Fairmount Open Space, Billy Goat Hill, Dorothy W. Erskine Park, Mt. Davidson, Glen Canyon, and down the amazing Harry Street Steps which descend through a jungle of overgrown trees and gardens. The above photo was taken looking northeast from Mt. Davidson, the highest peak in San Francisco; from the big concrete cross at the top (it used to be visible for miles, but is now obscured by eucalyptus trees) we'll head down Glen Canyon parallel to Islais Creek, eventually returning to the BART station via the Glen Park Greenway.

Bring / Wear:  Lunch, snacks, plenty of water, sturdy walking shoes - and layers.  Hiking poles if you use them.  And chocolate!!  (Lunch may be closer to 1PM so bring a snack!)

Weather Policy:  Check with hikeleader in the event of questionable weather.
