Elevation Gain: 2100 feet

Description: We will do a loop hike in this popular and beautiful park, my favorite redwoods park in the Bay Area. We will pass along fern-bordered creeks and through redwood forests. Banana slugs often come out to greet us and share their home with us during this hike. The landscape will open up and give views to the ocean, unless the fog restricts our view. Storm damage in recent years required major repair work, so we might find something new on the trails. Due to park restrictions on road access and parking, we will start from the top at the North Ridge parking area, unlike past hikes I led here that started from Purisima Creek Road parking area. Dogs are not allowed in the preserve.

Bring/Wear: lunch, water, layers, hat, sunscreen, good hiking shoes

Rain Policy: Contact hike leader if weather is questionable

Trailhead Meeting Time: 9:45 AM

Trailhead Departure Time: 10:00 AM

Trailhead Meeting Place: North Ridge parking area. On highway 280 south from SF, take exit 34 for CA-35 W toward CA-92 W/Half Moon Bay/Bunker Hill Dr. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp. Turn right at the traffic light, the road then is both CA highway 35 and CA highway 92. When highways 35 and 92 split, turn left to stay on highway 35. Go 4.4 miles and the parking area will be on the right.   Google Maps Link

Driving Distance: 61 miles, there and back from SF; 78 miles from Rockridge.

Total Bridge Tolls and Entry Fees: 0 from San Francisco. $8 from Oakland.

Carpool Fee Per Passenger, including fees & tolls: $8 from SF; $12 from Rockridge BART.
